NEW Ocean's 11: Fountain Scene and Music

I have been watching the NEW version of Ocean's 11 on television and am totally taken by the fountain scene in frony of The Belagio. It is played to the music Clair de Lune (from "Suite Bergamasque).

The music is so beautiful. The older I get, the more beauty I find in the world. This piece is amazing.

Listen and enjoy.

John Wayne in True Grit, Then and Now, Extended Video

I found the following video on YouTube. It is a "Then and Now" montage of "True Grit" staring the greatest actor (in my opinion) of American cinema, John Wayne. It was posted by a woman listed as JeepsterGal. She did and excellent job on this video and it is the absolute best video on YouTube.

I have been a John Wayne fan since my youth and will continue until my death. The Duke was what every boy in my youth wanted to grow to be.

As I have stated in previous posts, he reminds me so much of my father. We sure could use a man like him in the USA right now.

Sit back and enjoy the new, updated version of the video. It did bring a tear to my eye. I will post my quote after the video. It makes me smile every time I hear it.

PS: Yes....the quote is in the video.

[Rooster confronts the four outlaws across the field]
Ned Pepper: What's your intention? Do you think one on four is a dogfall?
Rooster Cogburn: I mean to kill you in one minute, Ned. Or see you hanged in Fort Smith at Judge Parker's convenience. Which'll it be?
Ned Pepper: I call that bold talk for a one-eyed fat man.
Rooster Cogburn: Fill your hands, you son of a bitch.

Trial of Cop Killer Begins in Houston

The death-penalty trial of Juan Leonardo Quintero, 34, opened this morning as prosecutors told jurors the illegal immigrant is a "cold-blooded killer" for executing Houston Police Officer Rodney Johnson.

Johnson had stopped Quintero for speeding and arrested him for not having a driver's license. As Johnson worked on a report in the front seat of his patrol car, Quintero, who was handcuffed and locked in the back seat, pulled a pistol from his waistband that was overlooked in a search. He shot Johnson four times in the head.

According to court records, Quintero was convicted of driving while intoxicated and received deferred adjudication for indecency with a child before he was deported in 1999.

Read more about the case
here.

I think they should strap him to the gerney and insert the needle. This guy is a cool blooded killer.

Some of the comments on the Houston Chronicle's site are as follows:

jeeterbug wrote: you killed someone, a police officer at that...break the law, pay the consequence. if you don't like our laws, stay in mexico!

I hope the family sues the scum employer for enabling him to come into this country and facilitating the murder.

Come on I am a firm believer in the death penalty, unfortunatly leathal injection is too good for this guy, shoot him in the back of his head...eye for an eye....

THIS GUY IS LOWER THAN SCUM!!! EXCUTE HIM AS AN EXAMPLE TO OTHERS!!! IN FACT, A PUBLIC EXECUTION MIGHT BE JUST THE THING!!!

I will keep abreast of this story and post more later.

Another Great Memory From My Youth: Wild Wild West

Here is another great memory from my youth. I looked forward to watching "Wild Wild West" every week. Robert Conrad was excellent in the role as James T. West and Ross Martin WAS Artemus Gordon.

The Will Smith-Kevin Klein version of "Wild Wild West" was a poor substitute.

Enjoy the opening clip below. It is the one where West punches the woman after the kiss. I always figured she deserved it. After all, if she messed with James West, she got what she deserved.

I thought that was the best part of the intro. The studios could not get away with that in this day and age.

Well, sit back and enjoy this opening intro. It brings back even more happy memories from my youth.

More on The Avengers

John Steed and Emma Peel were one of the classic fictional male/female crimefighting teams. It was the ease and natural chemistry between the two of them that made the Diana Rigg episodes of "The Avengers" special.

They behaved like good friends who maintained a certain public formality (they never called each other by their first names), but we just KNEW those two were sleeping together.

Well, weren't they? I always liked to think they were. I just loved the banter going back and forth. They do not make shows like this anymore.

Emma Peel: [Emma is admiring an antique bed] I've always rather fancied myself in one of these.
John Steed: So have I... I mean, I have too.

Updated "The Avengers" Opening (IN COLOR)

I found the updated opening for "The Avengers." This one shows better video (film) of Diana Rigg as Emma Peel.

I know I sound obsessed with her, but she brings back pleasant memories of my youth. After she left the series, I never really watched it any more.

I hope you enjoy this.

A GREAT Memory From My (and Possibly Your) Youth

See if this does not bring back memories?

I was IN LOVE with Diana Rigg (Emma Peel). What young male of the 60s and full grown man of the 21st century was not? She was beautiful, intelligent, and could kick your ASS!!!

What more could a man (or boy) want from a woman? She sure got me ( and most certainly many others) through puberty. She WAS and STILL IS absolutely gorgeous.

I will try to find the opening from the later episodes that were in color.

The Shocking Blue: "Venus"

Here is another video I found on YouTube. I loved this song as a youth. It is great to find it in video form and to enjoy it again.

The song is "Venus" as performed by "The Shocking Blue." As always, sit back, enjoy and sing along (if you must). I always do.

Have fun.

A Goddess on a mountain top
Was burning like a silver flame
The summit of Beauty in love
And Venus was her name

She's got it yeah, Baby, she's got it
Well, I'm your Venus, I'm your fire at your desire
Well, I'm your Venus, I'm your fire at your desire

Her weapon were her crystal eyes
Making every man mad
Black as the dark night she was
Got what no-one else had
Wa!

She's got it yeah, Baby, she's got it
Well, I'm your Venus, I'm your fire at your desire
Well, I'm your Venus, I'm your fire at your desire

[Aaaahhhhh with instrumental break]

She's got it yeah, Baby, she's got it
Well, I'm your Venus, I'm your fire at your desire
Well, I'm your Venus, I'm your fire at your desire

Men at Work: "Land Down Under"

I have been watching old music videos on YouTube lately. I found the original video of Men at Work performing their song "Land Down Under." I have supplies the lyrics below. watch, listen and sing along. Enjoy.

Travelling in a fried-out combie
On a hippie trail, head full of zombie
I met a strange lady, she made me nervous
She took me in and gave me breakfast
And she said...

"Do you come from a land down under?
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover"

Buying bread from a man in Brussels
He was six-foot-four and full of muscles
I said, "Do you speak-a my language?"
He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich
And he said...

"I come from a land down under
Where beer does flow and men chunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover"
Yeah

Lyin' in a den in Bombay
With a slack jaw, and not much to say
I said to the man, "Are you trying to tempt me
Because I come from the land of plenty?"
And he said...

"Oh! Do you come from a land down under? (oh yeah yeah)
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover."

Living in a land down under
Where women glow and men plunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover

Living in a land down under
Where women glow and men plunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover

Living in a land down under
Where women glow and men plunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover

Living in a land down under
Where women glow and men plunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover

Clinton, Obama Fight for Pennsylvania

Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama face off in Pennsylvania today. To overtake Obama in the nationwide popular vote, Clinton needs a bigger win in tomorrow's Pennsylvania primary than she has had in any major contest so far. And that's just for starters.

After more than 40 Democratic primaries and caucuses, Obama, the Illinois senator, leads Clinton by more than 800,000 votes. Even if the New York senator wins by more than 20 percentage points tomorrow -- a landslide few experts expect -- she would still have a hard time catching him.

Texas Truth will keep abreast of the primary in the Keystone State. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Jimmy Carter Continues to Meddle

Former US president Jimmy Carter and Khaled Meshaal, exiled chief of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, held more talks in Syria on Saturday focused on a possible truce between Israel and Gaza militants and the release of an Israeli soldier, Hamas said.

The two men held a lengthy meeting on Friday, strongly opposed by Washington and Israel who view Hamas as a terrorist organisation despite its victory in Palestinian elections in 2006.

The Immaculate Reception

I was watching FoxSports on television this evening and they had a replay of the 50 Most Spectacular Plays in Sports.

The progressed from number fifty to number one. I felt I knew what number 1 was, but as I had not seen the episode before, I waited until the end to see their pick.

I was not disappointed. It was the "Immaculate Reception" in the AFC divisional playoff game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Oakland Raiders at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on December 23, 1972.

At the time, I was a freshman in college and a die-hard Steelers fan. I lived and died with the Steelers. I had relatives in Pittsburgh and was brough up to root for the Steelers and the Pirates. That was a hard choice living in Texas, but the Steelers, as they are now, was MY team. I remember watching the game on television and am proud to say I remember the day, the play, and the excitement.

Anyone who knows and follows sports knows the game and the play. I have found a clip from YouTube and posted it below.

View it and see if it doesn't bring back memories. It certainly did for me.

Jimmy Carter: Not Peanuts, Just "NUTS"

Former President Jimmy Carter today warmly embraced a top Hamas terrorist and laid a wreath on the gravesite of former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, whom Carter called a "peace fighter" and a "dear friend," according to Palestinian officials speaking to WND.

Visiting the West Bank city of Ramallah, Carter attended a reception with Nasser Shaer, a senior Hamas leader. The reception was closed to the media, but according to participants and the Hamas leader, Carter hugged Shaer and kissed him on each cheek, the customary greeting for good friends. Many U.S. diplomats refrain from kissing Palestinian officials.

Authorities Search For Boys Accused of Killing Horse

The Houston Chronicle has a story about Brazoria police looking for two boys suspected of killing a 6-day-old horse with a pellet gun.

Witnesses said they saw two boys with a pellet gun in the area, Brazoria Police Chief Neal Longbotham said. By Tuesday afternoon they had not been found.

What an awful story? What kind of kids would do such a horrible thing? Evidently some that haven't had their behinds paddled in quite a while - if ever. That is what is wrong with society. Parents are too busy and don't bother to correct their kids or teach them manners.

These kids need to be taken away from their parents, who should have to pay financial restitution to the family, and the ratfink kids need to be locked up. How would these kids feel if someone did that to their pet? They should not be left off because they are probably juveniles, but need to pay for their actions. Hillary Rodham Clinton Shows More Hypocrisy

After a weekend spent making direct appeals to gun owners and church goers, Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday a query about the last time she fired a gun or attended church services "is not a relevant question in this debate” over Barack Hussein Obama’s recent comments on small town Americans.

“We can answer that some other time,” Clinton said at a press conference held in a working class neighborhood here. “This is about what people feel is being said about them. I went to church on Easter. I mean, so?”

Clinton described the furor surrounding Obama’s remarks as “about how people look at the Democratic Party and the Democratic Party leadership.”

This woman is a hypocrite to the nth degree. She has recently tried to portray her image as not an anti-gun patriot and a religious candidate.

This just goes to show how far this woman will go to gain supporters, votes, and the White House.

As I have said before, if she gains the White House, we will see a level of corruptness, dishonesty, and curtailing of our civil and God Given rights as we have never seen.

She is as dangerous as any enemy this county as ever had.

MLB Players, Owners Reach Drug Aggrement

Baseball players and owners toughened their drug rules again Friday in response to outside criticism, agreeing to more frequent testing and increased - but not total - authority for the program's outside administrator.

All players implicated in December's Mitchell Report on performance-enhancing drugs were given amnesty as part of the agreement, the third major modification since the program was instituted in 2002 following accusations players were abusing steroids.

This is another case of "all is forgiven." What kind of message is this sending to the youth of America?

Houston ISD High School Student Drowns in Pool

Below is an article from the Houston Chronicle about a student drowning in a school's swimming pool.

A 17-year-old high school senior died Thursday afternoon after being pulled from a high school swimming pool.

The student, along with eight to 10 others, were lingering in the natatorium after a physics experiment in the campus pool at Westside High School when a decision was made to jump back in the water, Houston ISD spokesman Terry Abbott said.

Several students jumped into the deep end at the same time, Abbott said.

The student was under water for an estimated three to four minutes before someone saw him at the bottom of the pool. He was pulled to the surface by the physics teacher and another student.

Artificial respiration was started shortly after 3 p.m. at the campus at 14201 Briar Forest near State Highway 6, officials said.

The student was taken to Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:08 p.m., Abbott said.

Students had been told to stay away from the deep end by their teacher, Abbott said.

"It's a horrible accident," he said.

The incident was recorded on a school surveillance camera that is being reviewed by authorities. Counselors will be available to Westside students on Friday, Abbott said.

I am sorry for the young man's family. This is a tragedy. However, I see a lawsuit in the future, a teacher possibly losing his/her job a/long with their teaching credentials, an administrator who will possibly lose his/her job, and a school district who is going to have a LARGE monetary
judgment against them.

State law REQUIRES that a trained first responder [IE: lifeguard, coach, or CPO (certified pool operator)] be on deck anytime a swimming pool is in use, that has no other duties than to watch the pool and the participants in the pool area.

What I want to know is why nobody noticed that the student was missing?

It seems to me that MANY people did not do their jobs and as a result, cost someone their life.

If it is the case that the students were playing around and jumped into the pool, it seems to me that perhaps the student himself is somewhat to blame for his own death

However, the law also states that the doors of the pool must be locked when there is no one there to monitor the pool and pool area.

Someone is going to pay BIG TIME. There is no doubt about that.

Houston ISD Superintendent Gets $75,000 Bonus

Houston ISD Superintendent Abelardo Saavedra pocketed nearly all of his performance bonus this year, earning $75,000 of a potential $80,000.

The bonus, based mostly on student test scores, comes on top of Saavedra's annual $302,000 salary. Add in other perks, such as his car allowance, and Saavedra's total deal lands in the $450,000 neighborhood.

School board president Harvin Moore said Saavedra, who became chief of the state's largest school district in 2004, deserved the extra money. Saavedra's bonus equals about 25 percent of his base pay.

The average bonus for a teacher this year was about $2,100, based on preliminary numbers. That represents about 4 percent of the average teacher salary.

We were both fans of the original series from the 1980s. The current series is so much better.

The two main questions in everyones mind are as follows:

1. Will the humans find Earth,?
2. Who is the final (12th) Cylon?

I have my thoughts on both and will discuss them in due time.

Very few shows have displayed the quality and intensity of this series. If you have not ever watched it, tune in tonight. You will become mesmerized immediately.
