Michele Backmann Annoucne Run for POTUS; Has 1st Gaffe

Representative Michele Bachmann kicked off her presidential campaign today in Waterloo, Iowa.

In a speech, she was quoted;

The only problem is that John Wayne was from Winterset, Iowa, not Waterloo, Iowa.

Texans Head to New York To Get Same-Sex Marriages

The news is awash with legalization of same-sex marriages in New York state.

In an article from the Houston Chronicle, gays and lesbians are headed to the Empire State to get hitched.

The only thing is such marriages are not recognized in Texas.

I really do not care what two consenting adults to behind closed doors, this is just another case of the government granting creditability to something that the majority of Americans are against.

Marriage is and always has been a union between a man and a woman.

If two people want to "hook up," then that is none of my business, but this decision in New York is wrong.

There are no two ways around it.

Obama Eyeing Another Chicago "Buddy" to Run ATF

NewsMax.com is reporting that the Obama administration is in talks this week with Andrew Traver, who could replace the current head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), a man gun-rights groups have railed against as being hostile to their cause.

President Barack HUSSEIN Obama ordered grisly photographs of Osama bin Laden in death sealed from public view on Wednesday, declaring, “We don’t need to spike the football” in triumph after this week’s daring middle-of-the-night raid.
Here are some thoughts, at least from my mind:

1. If Bush was still POTUS, the Press and the Democrats would be DEMANDING the release of the photos. I have to wonder about this group in charge.

2. Why annouce he was unarmed? Just annouce he resisted and was dispatched.

3. Why annouce you collected a treasure trove of intel from the home?
When the Brits recovered an Egnima machine from a U-boat, they did not tell the Germans.

4. They should follow Israel's line on questions 'Neither Confirm or Deny"

5. Why even annouce what specific group of soldiers executed the mission? What purpose does it serve to give the enemy any insight on your capabilities?

6. I would not be surprised if the SEAL Team Six are hosted by the White House.

Austin Anti-Abortion Group Defends Obama Billboard

A Texas anti-abortion group on Saturday defended its billboard campaign on Chicago's South Side that uses an image of President Barack Obama, while community groups said they hope to encourage residents to talk frankly about women's health in low-income neighborhoods.

Teaching: Wisconsin and Texas: FOOD FOR THOUGHT

All this mess going on with the teachers in Wisconsin made me think.

What if a similar thing happened here in Texas.

Well, it may be closer than one thinks.

At my school, we have already been told we were going to have to pick up extra responsibilities next year, class sizes may be larger and all departments and programs should expect a 15% budget cut. We have also been told we will be under a hiring freeze for at least the next two years.

I understand the need for these moves. We have just so much money and everyone needs to cut back.

But when I see "certain personal" getting PREMO assignments and an overblown top-heavy administration staff, one begins to question the motives.

Why does a school need NINE assistant principals? Why does a school need EIGHT counselors? Why does a school need curriculum and content specialists? Why does a school need consultants to come into the school and tell them what they are doing wrong and how to teach?

We need to get back to the basics: TEACH!!!!

If a student messes up: PUNISH HIM OR HER!!!!

Let the teachers teach! That is what they went to college for (well, at least some of them).
That brings up my next point: ALTERNATIVE CERTIFICATION!

We need to get most of these hacks out of the classroom.

Most do more damage than they are worth.

After 33 years, I am beginning to think I am too old for this shit!!!!

Federal Appeals Court Upholds UT-Austin Admissions Standards

Hot off the press in the Houston Chroncile from the AP:

A federal appeals court has ruled that the consideration of race and ethnicity in the admissions standards at the University of Texas at Austin is legal.

The three-judge 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel in New Orleans upheld on Tuesday a 2008 lower-court ruling that UT didn't infringe on the civil rights of two white, female students who were refused admission to that year's freshman class.

Abigail Fisher and Rachel Michalewicz had alleged that the university violated their constitutional right to equal protection.

Patricia Ohlendorf, UT legal affairs vice president, said she was pleased with the ruling. The women's attorney, Bert Rein of Washington, D.C., said he was disappointed in the outcome.

It is amazing to me that people who are not academically prepared to attended a school like UT are allowed admittance in order for the school to be PC fashionable. I wonder how many of those admitted under the "race and ethnicity in the admissions standards" finish their degrees and are prepared for the world? Very few, I would bet!!!

This was the music of my youth. Being a trumpet player, I LOVED listing to Chicago, Blood, Sweat and Tears, and Chase.

Chase cut three albums and I had two of them growing up. They are somewhere in the house and I may dig them out sometime.

The Beginning Of The End For Barack HUSSEIN Obama

I was doing some reading this morning and came across this comment on a website.

An opinion I read the other day said that the Republicans have informed Barack Obama that in January, they are willing to use their majority in the House of Representatives to subpoena Obama’s birth certificate from Hawaii. And that Obama knows that will prove that he is not a natural-born citizen eligible to be president.

He also stated that Obama has agreed to go along with the Republican agenda for the next 2 years in order to avoid a constitutional crisis over the presidency. Also, Obama had to agree not to run for a second term.

Do you think that might be true, and that Obama caving on the tax increases on the rich is just the first step in trying to hide his ineligibility to be president?

It certainly give me food for thought.

T.S. Hermine To Hit South Of Texas-Mexico Border

Tropical Storm Hermine is strengthening and headed toward the northwestern Gulf coast on Monday.

She will probably make landfall around midnight just south of the U.S.-Mexico border.

It looks like the Houston region will not get a direct hit, but we are going to get some major rain in the 24-36 hours.

Southeast Texas will see some rain from the outer bands of Hermine, and the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the greater Houston area.

Widespread totals of 1 to 3 inches of rain are likely, with up to 8 inches in isolated areas.

There is a small chance of tornadoes along and just inland from the Gulf, and tides along the upper coast will be 2 to 2.5 feet above normal, peaking tonight or early tomorrow.

In any case, we will be HIGH but certainly NOT DRY!!!

Criminal Aliens Are Dying In The Desert

It is being reported that deaths of "criminal aliens" (my words, not theirs) crossing into the United States in July is soaring due to high temperatures. Many of the bodies are being found in the desert southwest of Tucson.

Lowlife 21-Year-Old KILLS A Kitten For Unplugging His Video Game

I just saw this on a link on the Drudge Report. It was linked to "The Smoking Gun."

A Virginia man allegedly killed a kitten after the animal somehow disconnected a video game while he was playing it Monday night, police charge. Bruce Walston, 21, is facing an animal cruelty charge for allegedly killing his girlfriend's black kitten by throwing it against a wall in their apartment, according to the below Staunton Police Department report. Walston was arrested after his girlfriend, Bessie Hess, called cops about the incident, which occurred in front of her children. Walston told cops that he was "arguing with Bessie over the cats disconnecting his video game at which time he picked up the kitten and threw it against the wall." When police arrived at the couple's home, the dead pet "was laying on the front porch." Walston, pictured in the mug shot at right, was charged with animal cruelty and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors. He was booked into the Middle River Regional Jail, where he is being held without bond.

This guy is 21 years old and he get pissed off because a cat unplugs his video game.
I personally do not like cats (and they don't like em), but I would NEVER injure or kill a defenseless animal.

Israeli Defense Forces Board Ships Headed For Gaza

All HELL is breaking loose in the Middle East as Israel boards ships headed for the Gaza Strip "supposedly" carrying relief supplies.

It is apparent that it will take weeks, if not months, to sort out the facts. One things I do know is true and has a major impact on the event.

Gaza is under the control of Israel and foreign ships aren't allowed to visit Gaza without approval from the Israeli government

Israeli forces commanded the ship to stop. They refused. Commandos then boarded the ship.

In my mind, if you are ordered to stop and refuse, then you get what you deserve.

You just know that the people on the ships wanted to force a violent incident, so they could become the victim in the eyes of the world.

White House spokesman William Burton released the following statement:

"The United States deeply regrets the loss of life and injuries sustained, and is currently working to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragedy."
